[Afternoon] Dyeing Workshop (Zoom Broadcast) Sat, July 11th. Guest instructor: Nakagami Dyeing Shop
This is an online participation option for classroom students only, allowing you to watch a dyeing workshop on Zoom with Masami Nakagami of Nakagami Some Senshoku-ten, a long-established dye shop in Kyoto, as our instructor. We will be live streaming a demonstration from the workshop in real-time. You will be able to closely observe the dyeing process using acid dyes, the same as those used for hand-painted yuzen, right from your screen. You are welcome to either follow along and work on your own piece while watching, or simply participate by watching and learning for now.
Questions will be addressed during frequent Q&A sessions. You can also ask questions anytime via chat, and our assistants will pick them up and answer them.
What you will learn on the day:
・Square-cut partial dyeing
・Simple gradation techniques using a brush
・Boil-dyeing that completes with color-setting
How to participate:
・This is a one-way live stream where you will watch the demonstration (we will not be checking your work).
・Questions will be taken via chat or by raising your hand and speaking (an assistant will be present to help facilitate).
For those who wish to dye along:
Nakagami-san's dyes are not available for wholesale, so if you wish to purchase them, please order directly from Nakagami Some Senshoku-ten in advance (online orders are for 5 bottles or more, shipping fee 430 yen). If you have them ready by the day of the workshop, you can dye along with us.
Other items such as brushes are also sold:
Small brush: 413 yen
Medium brush: 440 yen
Large brush: 555 yen
It is recommended to use different brushes for different color systems.
Recommended items:
