Tsumami Zaiku Experience in Kyoto

Experience the joy of creating flowers from a single piece of fabric at a traditional Kyoto townhouse in Nishijin.

We offer a special opportunity to create your own unique work alongside a skilled artisan.

WORKSHOP

Over 10 years, more than 10,000 people have experienced it.

The fabric used is habutae, the same as that used for maiko's tsumami zaiku. The dyeing is also done by hand in Kyoto, resulting in very beautiful colors.
While a "specialty store experience" might sound difficult, out of over 10,000 participants, no one has ever failed to complete it. Even those who are clumsy are very welcome. Please feel free to join us.

A single silk flower, from a Kyoto workshop.

Tsumami zaiku is a craft in which individual small pieces of habutae silk are "pinched" to form flower petals. A craftsman will be by your side to guide you through the entire process, from choosing colorful habutae silk pieces to assembling and finishing your flower.
You can take home your finished flower, set on a hair stick, clip, or bag charm. This experience is suitable for beginners, children (10 years and older), and international visitors. Feel free to come empty-handed.

A one-of-a-kind piece with your favorite combination.

You can create your own original hair ornament by choosing your favorite items from five categories: flowers, bases, colors, flower centers, and dangling elements, and combining them freely.
*You can choose the colors and shapes on the day while looking at the actual items. Colors are subject to change or addition without prior notice.
