◤ Why online classes now? ◢
Some people may find it difficult to continue attending in-person classes due to time constraints, distance, or personal reasons.
While online classes have the disadvantage of not allowing physical communication, such as community among students and direct feedback from me,
they also offer advantages like being able to watch the instructor's hands at all times and being able to view archived lectures later.
More than anything, my wish is for you to continue for a long time, and for Tsumami Zaiku to become a lifelong friend to you.
I would be happy if online classes could be one option for you.
Hidehisa Kitai, Representative of Kyoto Oharibako / Tsumami Zaiku Class Instructor
The popular classes are now available online, maintaining the atmosphere of the classroom.
Oharibako's authentic Tsumami Zaiku course, which has been studied by over 300 people,
is finally opening online.
This new format allows you to learn the traditional technique of glue-pinching using habutae silk,
while closely observing the craftsman's hands.

Q.
Is it okay for beginners?
A.
Yes, it's perfectly fine even if you're a complete beginner.
We will gently guide you from how to hold tweezers and handle glue.
Since it's a small class, you can ask questions on the spot if you don't understand something.
Q.
Can I attend without showing my face?
A.
Yes. You can participate with your camera off or using a nickname.
We only ask that you set up a camera for your hands
so that the instructor can see your work and provide advice.
Q.
What equipment do I need?
A. You will need a smartphone or PC to watch the online course.
▼
For those who want to take the course seriously, we recommend the following:
Recommended learning environment: A PC or tablet that can clearly display the streamed video, and a smartphone or web camera with a stand to capture your hands from above.
We recommend two devices.
① Screen for students to see the instructor's hands: PC or tablet
② Camera for the instructor to see the students' hands: Smartphone or web camera with a stand
If you show your hands during the class while pinching, we will guide you on the spot, explaining "why it turns out that way" and "how to do it more smoothly."
Please inquire about recommended smartphone stands and
web
cameras.
Q.
What tools do I need?
A.
Please prepare the following tools yourself (all materials such as fabric and metal fittings are included in the course).
•
Tweezers
•
Glue board
•Craft scissors for handicrafts
(not stationery scissors)
•Awl
•
Bond
•
Clothespins
•
Masking tape
The three items: tweezers, glue board, and craft scissors (for handicrafts), can also be
purchased from the Oharibako online shop.
Q.
How long can I view the archives (recordings)?
A.
Each session's video will be recorded and
can be viewed at any time for
1
and a half
years
from the lecture date.
Even if you have scheduling conflicts, you can review the material as many times as you like later.
Q.
When will the materials arrive?
A.
They will be shipped
1
to
2
weeks
before the start of the course.
Upon arrival, please check the contents according to the checklist inside the box.
Q.
What happens if I miss a session?
A.
You can catch up with the archived recordings.
Also, if there is a vacancy in the same session of another class, you can
transfer your attendance
to that session.
Q. I'm worried about operating Zoom
...
A.
We will hold a "guidance session (free)" before the start of the course.
We will conduct connection checks and video tests together, so even beginners can feel at ease.
Q.
Are there "certified instructor systems" or "qualification systems" like in other classes?
A.
This course deliberately does not have a qualification or certification system.
Tsumami Zaiku is a "free craft" where the perfection and expression of the work vary from person to person.
The goal is for each individual to "be able to create beautiful flowers with their own hands."
We also value an environment where those who wish to pursue instructor or artist activities can freely work without being bound by "the presence or absence of certification."
The appeal of "Oharibako Online Classes" is that you can expand the learned techniques in your own style.
Q.
I'm already learning at another class, is that okay?
A.
Absolutely no problem.
This class has no affiliation with other Tsumami Zaiku class organizations or instructors, so you can participate without worrying about constraints.
Furthermore, this course emphasizes "traditional and authentic techniques" using glue and habutae silk.
Whether you want to reconfirm the basics or learn the techniques of another school, please feel free to participate as an opportunity to deepen your own style.
