Only one more event until the 30th!
This is our 29th event.
Time flies, doesn't it?
I've been especially cherishing the fact that I've been able to work with such trustworthy people for 15 years.
As we approach the New Year, prepare something new
and wear it as the New Year arrives.
This tradition may be fading now,
but isn't it a wonderfully comforting custom?
Why not welcome the New Year of 2026 with new geta?
First-timers are also welcome to join us.
——- Kurosawa Kirizaisho's Getabako ——-
Those who know, know.
Those who are new, will be surprised by Mr. Kurosawa's geta.
Selecting good paulownia from the mountains,
then painstakingly processing it into material...
Every craft starts with its material,
but it's rare to find a craftsman who takes care of the material from its cultivation
all the way to direct sales.
"Painful geta are not geta,"
says Mr. Kurosawa.
Good geta are
easy to wear
comfortable
and fit your feet well.
They are geta that you can wear and "raise," care for when damaged,
and have a long relationship with. They are worth it.
I, too, have several pairs of Mr. Kurosawa's geta that I've been wearing for over 10 years.
They are not merely "new and unseen geta,"
but "Aizu paulownia" that is incredibly light and resilient,
precisely because of the heavy snow in Aizu.
So even those with playful designs have a serious core.
Playful geta that can only be made
because they have a solid core. Please come and see for yourselves.
What is "Kurosawa Kirizaisho"?
Did you know there's a geta shop
that handles everything from cutting Aizu paulownia from the mountains,
to shaping it into geta bases, and then fitting thongs to suit each customer's feet?
"Getabako" is an event held twice a year, in summer and winter,
before the Gion Festival and New Year's, by inviting "Kurosawa Kirizaisho."
Not only can you custom-order new geta,
but repairs to your existing geta, thong replacements, and adjustments are also welcome.
This is a geta shop where you can see the craftsman's face,
and we especially want those who have never worn geta to experience the joy.
We look forward to seeing you with Kurosawa Kirizaisho's original,
unseen stylish geta!
For those who wear kimonos, yukata, and even those who only wear Western clothes, you can enjoy them.
Oh, and families with children come every time!
Children especially should wear them; they are geta that children can put on themselves and run around in every day.
They are also recommended because they can be worn longer than shoes,
as children outgrow them less quickly!
Come alone, with family, or with friends.
We look forward to your visit.
