"Geta that hurt are not geta."
Deeply impressed by the young craftsman Mr. Kurosawa, who, with pride in his craft,
sincerely makes geta,
we've been inviting him to Oharibako twice a year.
"Geta that hurt are not geta" is Mr. Kurosawa's motto.
If you choose geta and hanao (thongs) made from sturdy domestic materials, manufactured, and finished well,
he will adjust them to your feet right before your eyes.
In other words, this is a custom-made experience.
You'll get a pair just for you.
While it sounds simple,
the situation surrounding geta
is far from optimistic.
Aizu kiri, the raw material, does not grow in just a few years.
It takes a long time and effort,
nurtured like one's own child.
After confirming its condition, it is felled,
stored and dried as a log.
Then, it is semi-processed and left exposed to rain, wind, and snow for a year
to remove astringent components.
Only then, through further processing,
does it finally take the form of geta.
Mr. Kurosawa faces each step of this process,
resulting in a finished pair of geta.
The "Geta-Bako" event has reached its 17th iteration.
The reason so many people visit
is purely due to the charm of Mr. Kurosawa's geta and his personality.
Please come and meet Mr. Kurosawa and his geta!
