When you think of summer, you think of geta!
This is our 28th time holding this event.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
Those who know, know.
Those who don't know will be amazed by Kurosawa-san's geta.
Choosing fine paulownia wood from the mountains,
and then carefully processing it into material...
Every craft begins with its materials, but
there are few artisans who are involved from cultivating the materials
all the way to direct sales.
"Geta that hurt are not geta,"
says Kurosawa-san.
Good geta are
easy to wear,
comfortable,
and fit your feet well.
You can break them in as you wear them, take care of them when they're damaged, and
have a long relationship with them. Such geta are truly valuable.
I myself have several pairs of Kurosawa-san's geta that I've been wearing for over 10 years.
Not only are they "new and unseen geta," but they also feature
"Aizu Paulownia," incredibly light and resilient, unique to the snow-covered region of Aizu.
So even items with a playful appearance are fundamentally serious.
It's because of their solid core that these
playful geta are possible.
Please come and see them.
What is "Getabako"...
Do you know that there's a geta shop that consistently handles everything from cutting Aizu paulownia wood from the mountains, shaping it into geta bases,
to fitting thongs perfectly to the customer's feet?
We invite such a shop, "Kurosawa Kirizaiten," twice a year, in summer and winter, before the Gion Festival and New Year's, to hold "Getabako."
Not only can you get new custom-made geta, but we also offer
repairs for your existing geta, replacement of thongs, and adjustments.
This is a geta shop where you can see the artisan's face, and we hope even those who have never worn geta will enjoy it.
We look forward to seeing you with Kurosawa Kirizaiten's original,
stylish geta that you've never seen before!
It's enjoyable for those who wear kimonos, yukatas, and even those who only wear Western clothes.
Oh, and we always have families with children attending!
Children should definitely wear these geta; they can put them on themselves every day and run around in them.
They can be worn for a long time before they're outgrown, which is another recommended point!
Come alone, with your family, or with friends.
We look forward to your visit.
