Summer is coming with geta!
This is our 26th event!
Whether you're a returning customer, a first-timer,
or someone we haven't seen in a while...
We look forward to seeing you!
Those who know, know.
Those who don't, will be amazed.
Kurosawa-san's geta.
Choosing excellent paulownia wood from the mountains,
and then taking the time and effort
to process it into material...
Any craftsmanship begins with the material,
but very few craftsmen
are involved from the cultivation of the material
all the way to direct sales.
We also handle silk,
but we don't raise silkworms,
so we have immense respect for Kurosawa-san's work.
"Painful geta are not geta,"
says Kurosawa-san.
Good geta are
easy to wear,
comfortable,
and fit your feet well.
You can "raise" them by wearing them, and if they get damaged, you can have them repainted and repaired, allowing for a relationship that feels uniquely Japanese. These geta are worth it.
They're not just "unseen and new geta";
they're also made from "Aizu Paulownia," which is incredibly light and resilient, precisely because Aizu is a snowy region.
So even items with playful designs have a serious core.
It's because of this strong core that such playful geta can be made.
Please come and visit us.
What is "Getabako"?
Are you aware that there's a geta shop that consistently handles everything from cutting Aizu paulownia wood from the mountains and shaping it into geta bases, to attaching thongs that fit the customer's feet?
"Getabako" is an event held twice a year, in summer and winter, before the Gion Festival and New Year, inviting such a geta shop, "Kurosawa Kirizaiten."
Not only can you get new geta custom-made,
but you can also have your existing geta repaired, or have the thongs replaced or adjusted.
This is a geta shop where you can see the craftsman's face, and we especially want those who have never worn geta to enjoy it.
We look forward to seeing you with Kurosawa Kirizaiten's original, stylish geta that you won't find anywhere else!
Of course, it's for people who wear kimonos and yukatas,
but even people who only wear Western clothes can enjoy it.
Oh, and we always have families with children visiting us!
Children especially should wear them; they are geta that children can put on themselves every day and run around in.
Since they can be worn for a long time before being outgrown,
they are recommended as they last longer than shoes!
Come by yourself, with your family, or with friends.
We look forward to your visit.
